Knesset Passes National October 7 Memorial Framework

The Knesset gave final approval early Friday to a national framework for remembering the Hamas-led October 7 massacre and acts of heroism. The law establishes 24 Tishrei as a state remembrance day, with ceremonies, flags at half-staff, school programs and special Knesset sessions. A new authority will build a national memorial site, museum and archive in the western Negev, collect testimony and records, and support education and research. Its council includes government agencies, returned hostages, bereaved families, massacre survivors and representatives of affected western Negev communities and settlement movements.
