Ben Gvir Sets Attorney General's Dismissal as Coalition Entry Condition

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that immediately dismissing Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara will be Otzma Yehudit's first threshold condition for joining the next government. In a letter, Ben Gvir said the government must remove her as soon as it is formed and appoint a legal adviser who helps it carry out policy. He wrote that without that condition, his party would not enter the coalition. The demand followed Baharav-Miara's filing to the High Court that Ben Gvir should be removed from office because, she argued, he breached understandings intended to safeguard police independence.
