Anwar Defies U.S. Pressure, Keeps Malaysia's Ban on Israeli Citizens

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said U.S. pressure would not change his government's ban on Israeli citizens entering the country. He said Malaysia would continue the policy and would deport any Israeli found using a foreign passport to enter. Eight U.S. lawmakers had asked Secretary of State Marco Rubio to review security and economic ties with Kuala Lumpur after Anwar's earlier deportation threat. The dispute centers on claims that dual-national Israelis joined Network School in Johor's Forest City, whose local operations were shut while authorities investigate immigration issues.
