ICC Member States Face Unprecedented Vote on Prosecutor Karim Khan

The International Criminal Court's 125 member states will meet at U.N. headquarters in New York on Friday for an unprecedented secret vote on whether to remove chief prosecutor Karim Khan. A majority of 63 is required. Khan, who denies the allegations, was removed from his duties in June after the court's oversight bureau found serious misconduct related to a female aide. The vote comes as the court faces sustained U.S. sanctions over its investigation of Israeli officials and its 2024 arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defense minister Yoav Gallant.
