Jordan Condemns Jewish Tisha B'Av Prayer on Temple Mount

Jordan's Foreign Ministry condemned National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir's visit and open prayer with Jewish worshippers on the Temple Mount during Tisha B'Av. The ministry called the visit a violation of the historical and legal status quo and urged international action against such visits. Israeli police allowed about 3,000 Jewish visitors to enter, many carrying Tisha B'Av prayer materials. The Temple Mount is Judaism's holiest site, where the First and Second Temples stood, while Jordan retains a special custodial role over Muslim shrines under the 1994 peace treaty.
