Defense Ministry Seeks Home Front Emergency Extension Through August 11

The Defense Ministry asked the government to extend the nationwide special situation on the home front through August 11, subject to approval by the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. The proposal says uncertainty persists in the Iran and Lebanon arenas despite ceasefires and agreements, and security officials still assess a high likelihood of an attack on civilians. The current declaration expires Tuesday. No Home Front Command restrictions are active now, but the status preserves authority to issue shelter, school and gathering instructions if conditions change; officials said its present economic effect should be negligible.
