Silman Clears Crocodile Pilot for Security Prisons

Environmental Protection Minister Idit Silman signed a declaration classifying crocodiles as cultivated wildlife, clearing the legal obstacle to an Israel Prison Service pilot at security prisons. The move followed National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir’s request and joint work by the environmental and national security ministries, the Nature and Parks Authority and the Prison Service. Prison officials said a crocodile perimeter could reduce security costs and deter escape attempts. The pilot would include construction plus safety, environmental and animal-welfare conditions, and is intended for facilities holding security prisoners, including Hamas Nukhba terrorists.
