Rabbinical Center of Europe Disavows Friedman, Plans Independent Beit Din

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of Orthodox European rabbis seated in rows at wooden desks during a gathering in a bright study hall

The Rabbinical Center of Europe said Moshe Aryeh Friedman is not a member, holds no position in the organization and is not recognized by it as a rabbi or representative. The center rejected his public positions, citing his participation in a 2006 Tehran Holocaust-denial conference and complaints against mohalim in Antwerp that opponents of circumcision have invoked. It said an independent beit din of qualified judges will examine whether his conduct meets halachic standards for someone presenting himself publicly as a rabbi. Friedman will be invited to present his position and evidence.
