Hundreds of Bus Trips Cut as Bein Hazmanim Holiday Routes Expand

Israel's National Public Transport Authority began broad service changes Wednesday for the Bein Hazmanim holiday period, expanding buses to Haredi population centers and recreation destinations while reducing hundreds of trips on other routes. Added services cover Jerusalem, Bnei Brak, Tiberias, Safed, Meron, the Kinneret, Superland in Rishon LeZion and separate beaches in Ashkelon. The authority said commuting demand falls seasonally in summer and cited reduced service from Rosh HaAyin, Kafr Qasim and Kiryat Ono toward Tel Aviv. It said the temporary changes, running through mid-August, allocate limited drivers and buses according to shifting public demand.
