Katz Says He Uses Detention Orders for Arab Terror Cases, Not Settlers

Defense Minister Israel Katz said at a Likud primary event in Ariel that he signs many administrative detention orders for Palestinian terror cases but no longer approves them for Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria. Katz said the Israeli citizens covered by his orders include Bedouins from the Negev suspected of smuggling drones and Galilee residents allegedly tied to terrorist groups. He acknowledged that the measure permits detention without trial, representation, disclosed information or ordinary rights. Katz argued that the cited Arab cases involve terrorism while extremist settler conduct does not.
