Pentagon Says Iran Casualties Shifted Because Operation Epic Fury Ended

The Pentagon said it created a separate casualty category for renewed fighting with Iran because Operation Epic Fury had ended. The Defense Casualty Analysis System now lists four soldiers killed in action and 225 wounded since July 7 under “Overseas Operations,” separate from 14 deaths and 417 wounded recorded under Epic Fury. The combined count is 18 dead and 642 wounded. Three of the four recent deaths followed Iran's July 17 missile and drone attack on a U.S. base in Jordan; the fourth soldier died in Iraq during a controlled detonation of an Iranian drone a day later.
