Up to 15 Torah Scrolls Stolen From Synagogue Near Paris

Thieves stole Torah scrolls from the Grand Synagogue of Levallois-Perret, outside Paris, after entering the building overnight Sunday to Monday. Rabbi Chalom Lellouche discovered the break-in Monday morning while preparing for a bar mitzvah, and police began reviewing surveillance footage. Community leaders said the intruders took only Torah scrolls while leaving valuable nonreligious objects untouched, and described the targeted theft as criminal and antisemitic. Reports place the number at 10 to 15 scrolls, while local authorities said two intruders were recorded and the investigation remains open.
