Eisenkot Says Gaza Deal Must Not Leave Hamas in Power

Yashar chairman Gadi Eisenkot said Friday that any Gaza agreement must be judged by whether Hamas's military and governing power is destroyed or dismantled. In a new 4:47 p.m. statement, the former IDF chief accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of surrendering without achieving the war's goals and said Israel must not accept Hamas surviving, rearming and preparing another attack. Eisenkot said Israelis again learned of a consequential agreement through foreign reports. Earlier, he said Netanyahu's failure to present the deal raised questions about whether Israel helped shape it or had it imposed without Israeli involvement.
