National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir approved hundreds of Beersheba streets for firearm-license eligibility, allowing tens of thousands of residents to apply. Applicants do not receive a license automatically and must still meet the criteria and conditions set by law. The decision followed professional reviews by the Israel Police and the Firearms Licensing and Supervision Division. Officials said 126 communities have been recognized in 2026, more than 200 are now eligible, and over 280,000 citizens have received personal firearm licenses since the reform expanded.
