Israel Clears EU Rafah and West Bank Missions Through June 2027

Israeli authorities approved extending the EU Border Assistance Mission at Rafah and the EU Police Mission for the Palestinian Territories through June 30, 2027, EU foreign-policy chief Kaja Kallas said. Kallas called the decision an important step after months of negotiations. EUBAM Rafah provides neutral monitoring at the Gaza-Egypt crossing, while EUPOL COPPS trains Palestinian police and advises on rule-of-law and judicial work. The missions had formally been prolonged only through September 30, 2026; Israel's approval clears the way for EU member states to authorize the longer mandates.
