IDF Reviews Interceptor Launch After Mistaking Operational Fire for Target

During operations in southern Lebanon's security zone, an Israeli air-defense interceptor was mistakenly launched toward a target that the military later identified as fire generated by IDF activity. The IDF said no one was injured and no public-warning sirens sounded, consistent with protocol. The military did not identify the interceptor type, the firing unit or the precise location of the incident. It said the launch, announced Tuesday night, remained under review as Israeli forces continued operating in the security zone.
