US Probes Link Gaza Crowdfunding to Alleged Hamas and PIJ Financing

Three recent US federal terrorism investigations are examining crowdfunding campaigns promoted as Gaza humanitarian aid. A late-July court filing says investigators sought Google, Meta and GoFundMe records in the case of Mahmoud Amin Ya’qub al-Muhtadi, who allegedly led an armed squad into Israel on October 7; his wife’s campaign raised more than $13,000. Catherine Washburn allegedly sent $30,116 in 80 crypto transfers to a PIJ member after he described attacks on Israel. Reda Sabassi allegedly raised about $600,000, sent $116,000 to a Hamas member and tried to convert roughly $382,000 for transfer through Gaza Now.
