Yemen Says Houthi Attack on Mokha Killed Guard, Left Two Marines Missing

Yemen’s internationally recognized government said Iran-backed Houthi forces fired six ballistic missiles at Mokha port on Friday evening, killing one security guard and wounding eight people. Col. Majed al-Nazili said two marines remained missing after the attack on the strategic Red Sea facility. An earlier military account confirmed missiles struck the port’s infrastructure before casualty figures were available. The attack marked renewed Houthi escalation against government-held areas after a 2022 ceasefire halted most major fighting in Yemen’s civil war, and followed renewed Houthi operations against Saudi Arabia.
