Fourth Administrative Petition Filed Against Ben Gvir Over Blocked Police Appointment

Chief Superintendent Yitzhak Alfassi petitioned the Jerusalem District Court on Wednesday against National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, who declined to approve his appointment as spokesman of the Investigations and Intelligence Division and Lahav 433. Alfassi won the placement process with the backing of Commissioner Dani Levi and senior command staff, and the petition says no written reasons were given. It argues the circumstances raise a real concern the decision rested on extraneous considerations harming police independence. The filing quotes Ben Gvir telling police spokespeople that they may not express political opinions and that he hears everything. It is the fourth such petition by an officer over a blocked promotion.
