Baharav-Miara Blocks Police Appointment Round, Levy Postpones Placements Hearing

Israel Police Commissioner Rav-Nitzav Danny Levy postponed the broad senior-officer placements hearing that had been scheduled to take place on Thursday. The police said the reason for the postponement was technical constraints. The actual reason was a decision by Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara, who blocked the upcoming round of appointments and demanded clarifications regarding some of the candidates. In place of the full hearing, Levy will rule on a very small number of positions whose staffing is urgently required because of operational needs at this time.
