Netanyahu and Kushner Left Dispute Over Strikes on Oct. 7 Terrorists Unresolved

Netanyahu's four hour meeting Monday in Jerusalem with U.S. special envoy Jared Kushner ended with no agreement on Israel's continued strikes against Hamas operatives who took part in the October 7, 2023 invasion, according to an official present and a second source briefed on the talks. Netanyahu insisted the strikes would continue, frustrating the visiting Board of Peace delegation. Kushner said he would not oppose strikes on those posing an imminent threat, but cautioned that the rationale should not be widely interpreted. He also objected to Netanyahu barring recruits for the new Palestinian police force from training in Egypt. Kushner wants Hamas to begin handing over weapons within a month.
