Chief Rabbi David Yosef Says Jews May Pray for Return to Gaza, Shechem and Jenin

Israel’s Sephardi Chief Rabbi David Yosef said Jews may pray to return to Gaza, Shechem and Jenin during a visit to the Gush Katif Museum in Jerusalem. Standing in the museum’s Room of Tears, he was asked whether it is permissible to pray for the Jewish people’s return to Gaza. Yosef replied that Gaza is part of the Land of Israel and said Gaza, Shechem and Jenin belong to the Jewish people. He called on listeners to pray that the Jewish people merit returning to all of those places. The recorded exchange did not include a government decision, operational plan or timetable.
