The IDF said it killed Sharif al-Hasanat, a company commander in Hamas’s Deir al-Balah Battalion, in a strike earlier Saturday in Deir al-Balah. According to the military, al-Hasanat helped lead efforts throughout the war to rebuild Hamas’s underground infrastructure. It said he had recently continued advancing terrorist attack plans against IDF troops and Israeli civilians and posed an immediate threat. Southern Command forces remain deployed under the agreement, and the IDF said they will continue acting to remove immediate threats.
