Sukkot Demolishes Terror Memorial as IDF Says Action Was Unauthorized

Religious Zionism MK Zvi Sukkot entered Madama with aides under IDF and Border Police protection during a requested memorial tour, then footage showed him striking a memorial honoring terrorist Yamen Faraj with a sledgehammer. Israeli reports identify Faraj as involved in dispatching the 2003 Geha Junction suicide bomber, who murdered four Israelis and wounded more than 20. The IDF said the escort did not authorize demolition, commanders stopped the action, and the visit diverted troops from operations and unnecessarily endangered them. Sukkot said the tour was coordinated and that he acted after earlier demands to remove memorials honoring terrorists went unanswered.
