IDF Restores 45 Jordan Border Posts and Upgrades Two Fence Sections

The IDF has restored 45 fortified posts along the Jordan River that Israel abandoned after the 1994 peace treaty with Jordan. Troops began clearing and reequipping the positions in June 2025, adding electricity, supplies and new surveillance systems, while remaining based at nearby modern facilities until emergencies. The military is also upgrading two 40-kilometer stretches of the aging border fence, from Hamat Gader to Yardena and from the Jordan Valley-West Bank checkpoint to Yafit. The 96th Gilad Division says the work strengthens detection and interdiction of weapons smuggling and threats arriving from beyond Jordan.
