Hundreds of Haredi Recruits Begin IDF Service, Many in Combat Tracks

Hundreds of Haredi men arrived at the IDF’s Tel Hashomer induction center Sunday morning to begin military service, with many entering combat-oriented tracks. Recruits were assigned to frameworks including the Netzah Yehuda Battalion, Hashmonaim Brigade, Haredi Paratroopers and the Air Force’s Negev track. The recruitment wave is expected to continue for about two weeks. Shomer Yisrael chief executive Yossi Levi said the turnout marked significant change and emphasized service that contributes to Israel’s defense while preserving a strict Torah-observant identity.
