Danon Meets Venezuela’s UN Envoy to Advance Consular Cooperation

Israel’s UN Ambassador Danny Danon met Venezuelan UN Ambassador Coromoto Godoy Calderón on Monday as the countries moved to renew official contacts. Danon said they discussed strengthening bilateral relations, restoring consular cooperation and Israel’s assistance after Venezuela’s June 24 earthquakes. He said Israel and Venezuela would continue working to deepen cooperation internationally and at the United Nations. The meeting followed earlier talks between Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and Venezuelan envoy Félix Plasencia that created a mechanism for consular services, the first formal channel since bilateral relations were severed in 2009.
