Katz Says Gaza Emigration Plan Is Frozen, Not Canceled

Defense Minister Israel Katz said a government plan to facilitate emigration from Gaza remains active but has been frozen, not canceled, after Arab governments pressed U.S. President Donald Trump. Katz said Israel is prepared to help departures by sea, air or other routes, while Egypt will not permit passage through its territory. He claimed 80% of Gazans want to leave, said Hamas prevents departures, and said prospective recipient countries require U.S. backing. Katz said Israel would seek a U.S. green light to advance the plan if Hamas fails to meet its commitments.
