DR Congo and Israel Agree Practical Steps for Jerusalem and Kinshasa Embassies

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and Democratic Republic of the Congo Foreign Minister Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner agreed practical steps on Thursday to move the DRC embassy to Jerusalem and open an Israeli embassy in Kinshasa. Their working meeting follows Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s September 1 talks in Jerusalem with President Félix Tshisekedi. Israel and the DRC first announced the reciprocal embassy plan in September 2023. Completing the move would make the DRC the 11th country to maintain an embassy in Jerusalem. The DRC, a country of about 120 million people, currently holds seats on the UN Security Council and Human Rights Council.
