Explosions Reported Around Qeshm, Sirik and Minab; Cause Unknown

Multiple explosions were reported around Qeshm Island and the coastal areas of Sirik and Minab shortly after midnight Thursday. Hormozgan provincial authorities said the sounds heard on Qeshm came from the direction of the sea. Witness accounts placed the blasts at about 00:24 to 00:26, with some residents reporting that buildings, doors and windows shook. Contemporaneous Iranian reports disagreed over Sirik: one cited official sources saying projectiles hit areas there, while another said no locations in the county had been targeted. No cause, target, damage or casualties had been confirmed.
