Tibi Says Joint List Will Back Legislation to Bar Netanyahu From Premiership

Ahmad Tibi said on Sunday that the Joint List would support legislation intended to prevent Benjamin Netanyahu from serving as prime minister after the election. He also said the party would oppose Netanyahu remaining caretaker premier and back replacing Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana before a new coalition is formed. Tibi linked support for an alternative government to commitments addressing Arab society’s needs, including action against violence and crime. These are proposed parliamentary steps, and whether legislation restricting Netanyahu’s eligibility would withstand High Court review remains unclear.
