Check Point Reports 82% Rise in Weekly Cyberattacks on Israeli Government Bodies

Check Point reported that Israeli government bodies faced about 2,300 cyberattacks per week in early October, an 82% increase from a year earlier, in research disclosed on October 25 ahead of the election. Across Israeli organizations, the weekly average was roughly 2,700 attacks, up 55%. Researchers identified more than 1,200 newly registered election-related websites during September and October, classifying one in 47 as suspected malicious. The company also reported increased election-related activity in attacker forums and the recirculation of previously leaked data. Government websites named as possible targets were not thereby confirmed to have been attacked.
