Israel Launches Election Shield to Protect Election Computer Systems

Israel’s National Cyber Directorate and Central Elections Committee have announced Operation “Election Shield” to protect computer systems used in the election process against hostile intrusion and disruption. The announcement followed a meeting attended by Cyber Directorate chief Yossi Karadi, committee chairman Justice Noam Sohlberg and acting committee director general Dean Livne. The operation includes increased threat monitoring, measures to strengthen systems’ resilience and proactive detection of infrastructure used for cyberattacks. A dedicated cyber situation center will operate on election day to support the protection of election-related computer systems.
