Election Committee Chair Orders Ministry to Remove Ben Gvir Photo

Central Elections Committee chair Justice Noam Sohlberg ruled Sunday that the National Security Ministry must remove a remaining photograph of Minister Itamar Ben Gvir from its Facebook communications. Attorney and accountant Yaron Meiri had challenged photographs accompanying three ministry posts, alleging the use of public assets for election propaganda. The ministry removed some photographs before the ruling. Sohlberg said government communications may include elected officials’ names and images, but the official must not become their central focus; one photograph still required removal. He also ordered the ministry to pay NIS 2,500 in the petitioner’s costs.
