Sohlberg Orders Netanyahu to Remove State Emblems From Political Illustration

On Tuesday night, Central Elections Committee chairman Justice Noam Sohlberg ordered Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to alter an illustration posted on his personal accounts. The picture included the state emblem twice and accompanied praise for a candidate who had left another political list, with a call for other members to follow. Sohlberg provisionally found sufficient grounds to regard the post as election propaganda involving prohibited use of public assets. His interim order requires Netanyahu to remove the emblems or take down the illustration. The petition remains under consideration, so the order is not a final determination of the case.
