Sohlberg Orders Netanyahu Airbase Video Removed From Private Accounts

Central Elections Committee chairman Justice Noam Sohlberg ordered Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to remove a video filmed at an Air Force base from his personal-political social media accounts. The October 6 ruling allows the September 29 video to remain on official government accounts. Sohlberg found that it combined a message of Israel's strength and deterrence with election propaganda, with the publication platform determining its predominant purpose. He ruled that using the base and aircraft, both public assets, for the video on personal-political accounts violated election law. Netanyahu and Likud were ordered to pay NIS 2,500 in the petitioner's costs.
