Eisenkot Invites Netanyahu to a Live Televised Election Debate

Gadi Eisenkot's Yashar party sent Benjamin Netanyahu a formal invitation for a direct, public election debate broadcast live on television. Eisenkot announced the initiative at a party conference in Ramat Gan on Sunday evening and said Netanyahu could choose the channel and format. The invitation proposes moderators chosen by the news channels' editors, with debate rules, speaking time and the method of selecting questions agreed with representatives of both campaigns. Yashar said it was ready to proceed immediately under those terms and requested a coordination meeting; no agreement to hold the debate was reported.
