High Court Clarifies Ban on All Polling-Station Turnout Reports to Parties

The High Court of Justice clarified on Sunday night that polling-committee members and observers representing parties or candidate lists may not send parties real-time reports of how many people have voted, regardless of the reporting method. The supplementary decision follows the judgment overturning acting Central Elections Committee director-general Dean Livneh’s permission for digital turnout reporting. Khaled Kabub and Ruth Ronen formed the majority in that judgment, with David Mintz dissenting. The Israeli Democracy Guard welcomed the clarification and called for polling workers’ instructions to be updated immediately.
