IDF Announces Killing of Hamas Intelligence and Engineering Commanders

The IDF and Shin Bet announced on October 26 that separate airstrikes had killed two commanders in Hamas’s military wing. Muhammad Halawa, a commander in its military-intelligence apparatus, was killed near Gaza City on October 24, while engineering commander Ahmad Zuhair Fuad Abu Ouda was killed on October 22. The joint statement said both men had advanced terrorist attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians and worked to rebuild Hamas’s capabilities during the war, particularly recently, in violation of the ceasefire. It said the strikes aimed to remove the threat they posed and that Israeli security forces remained deployed under the agreement.
