Shas Denies Changing Conscription Position After Rabbi Tzedaka Recording

Shas said its conscription position had not changed after a recording published Monday evening presented a different account from Rabbi Moshe Tzedaka. In the recording, the senior Sephardi rabbi said the party had reversed its position on military service for men who do not study Torah. He had considered urging voters not to support Shas, but senior rabbis persuaded him not to publish that letter after visiting his home on Saturday night, according to the report. Shas rejected the suggestion that it had changed its official stance.
