Health Ministry Warns Against Nir and Nitzan Products After Azaria Factory Closure

Israel's Health Ministry warned on 28 October against consuming products manufactured or packaged by Nir and Nitzan Trade Ltd., following an inspection of its factory in Moshav Azaria. The ministry said the Central District Food Service inspected the premises on Derekh HaMeyasdim after receiving a complaint and found conditions that could endanger public health. According to the ministry, the factory was operating without a manufacturer's licence and under extremely poor sanitary conditions. Central District physician Dr. Udi Kaliner signed an administrative closure order on Wednesday, 28 October, following the inspection findings. The ministry said its warning reflected concern about the condition and safety of the products. The affected range includes shelled nuts, walnuts, cranberries, sesame, dark raisins, coconut and other varieties of nuts and snack nuts. Packages bear the name Nir and Nitzan Trade Ltd. and range from 200 grams to 1 kilogram. The warning applies to all expiry dates in distribution through and including February 2028. The ministry said: “The public is asked not to consume these products.” It published photographs of some of the affected products alongside its announcement and attached the closure order. For information and clarification, it directed inquiries to the Kol HaBriut hotline at *5400.
