Zamir Outlines AI Integration Priorities at IDF Commanders’ Forum
Published
IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir led a forum on artificial intelligence for General Staff members and brigade commanders on Monday, November 2, at the new Communications and Cyber Defense Campus in Beersheba. The military said the gathering examined how AI could be incorporated into its activities, from defensive and offensive systems to the handling of information. Commanders were presented with applications for processing and analyzing information, improving work processes and increasing organizational and operational efficiency. Zamir said AI would support intelligence, decision-making and operational capabilities as the IDF prepares for activity across several arenas at once. “Innovation is not just about technology,” Zamir said. He called for leadership and organizational adaptation alongside technological change, and said the army would strengthen combined human-machine warfare. Under that approach, manned units would operate together with unmanned systems to secure a battlefield advantage. Zamir referred to decisions to establish an AI and Unmanned Systems Branch, an Artificial Intelligence Brigade and a Spectrum Brigade within the C4I and Cyber Defense Directorate. He placed continued AI integration within the IDF's multi-year force-building plan, Hoshen. He also linked the new campus and the movement of military directorates and air force activity to the development of the Negev. The statement set out integration and doctrine as continuing work without giving a deployment timetable or budget.
