IDF Says Troops Destroyed Explosive Device Planted to Target Forces in Nur Shams

Israeli soldiers and Border Police bomb-disposal officers destroyed an explosive device around Nur Shams on Tuesday, November 3, after receiving intelligence that it had been planted to attack security forces, the IDF said. Its announcement identified the participating forces as belonging to the Ephraim Brigade and the Judea and Samaria Border Police. The device was destroyed in a controlled operation to remove the threat. The same brigade has previously searched Nur Shams for planted explosives. In an account linked by the IDF on February 1, the army said troops from the Magen David Battalion, numbered 8551, and engineering forces located five devices during an operation based on new intelligence. Border Police bomb technicians neutralized them. The army assessed that those devices had been planted more than a year earlier, before Operation Iron Wall began. The danger from explosive devices in the area also featured in an August 3 military prosecution announcement. According to the indictment described by the IDF, Kamal Khatib and other operatives remotely detonated a buried bomb against a security vehicle on July 1, 2024. Reservist Yehuda Geto was killed and another person was wounded.
