Khamenei Warns of Wider Regional Response to Renewed U.S. Attacks
Iran’s supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, warned in a message circulated on November 4 that another American attack would draw a wider Iranian response across the region. The message renewed Tehran’s threats against the United States, following an October 31 directive that explicitly included Israeli assets among potential targets. Khamenei said: “Any repetition of U.S. aggression will lead to a much broader response from Iran across the region.” He portrayed developments in the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz as a blow to the image of American military invincibility. He also claimed that U.S. military strength and international influence were declining irreversibly. Those assessments were presented as his claims. The message argued that concessions to Washington would not end American hostility toward Iran. Khamenei described resistance as a daily struggle rather than something limited to November 4, and credited Iran and the forces it calls the resistance front with advancing a new order through strength and unity. The earlier, separately dated statement from his office said he had instructed the armed forces on October 31 to respond immediately and effectively to threats without geographic limits. It also said target lists should be updated to cover American and Israeli material and nonmaterial assets. That directive was issued at a meeting with senior military commanders; today’s message reiterated the broader threat rather than announcing another operational order.
