Toddler Near-Drowns in Sdot Negev Pool

A 3-year-old nearly drowned in a pool at a home in the Sdot Negev Regional Council and was evacuated by MDA to Soroka in Beersheba in serious condition, unconscious and ventilated. MDA medic Uriel Cohen said responders found the child unconscious near the pool, gave ventilation support and medication, and transported him in a mobile intensive care unit. The incident sits in a grim week of Israeli drownings, including a fatal Friday drowning off Rishon Lezion and the death of a 15-year-old swept off Palmachim. The story is local, but pikuach nefesh is national: Israeli families need locked pools, lifeguarded beaches and fast emergency calls.
