Large Open-Area Fire Burns Near Adora in South Hebron Hills

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of two Israeli Border Police officers operating fire hoses in a smoke-filled burned woodland

A large fire burned through an open area near Adora in the South Hebron Hills late Friday, and the road between Beit Haggai and Adora was closed as volunteers responded. A man in his 30s was seriously injured by smoke inhalation. Magen David Adom treated him and evacuated him to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem, sedated and ventilated. He remained in serious condition. Initial reports did not state what caused the blaze or identify the injured man, and they reported no additional casualties.
