Kallas Welcomes Gaza Disarmament Plan as Constructive Step

European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said the plan to disarm Hamas in Gaza would be a constructive step toward peace if fully implemented. She welcomed the U.S.-brokered deal and credited support from Egypt, Qatar, Türkiye and peace envoy Nickolay Mladenov. Kallas cautioned that much still needs to fall into place and said success depends on full commitment during implementation. The published roadmap links the dismantling of Hamas's military capacity to a phased Israeli withdrawal and an international stabilization force working with new Palestinian police; Israel has not publicly approved it.
