Israeli Navy Receives Sixth Submarine, INS Drakon

Germany's TKMS formally transferred INS Drakon to the Israeli Navy at its Kiel shipyard, making the vessel Israel's sixth submarine and the final boat in the Dolphin II line. The 73-meter submarine is longer than Israel's two earlier Dolphin II vessels and has an enlarged sail whose contents Israel and the builder have not disclosed. It carries six 533-millimeter and four 650-millimeter torpedo tubes, while the Defense Ministry says its unique systems and groundbreaking technologies expand the IDF's capabilities across multiple arenas. The submarine must complete operational integration before entering full service.
