Israel Defense Forces Chief of the General Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir carried out an operational assessment in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, touring the sector with Southern Command chief Maj. Gen. Yaniv Asor and the commanders of the 99th and Gaza Divisions. Zamir said the military has significantly weakened Hamas and fundamentally changed the security reality, and that the IDF will keep operating proactively behind a forward defensive line protecting border communities. He vowed Israel will not allow another threat like the October 7 massacre to emerge, and pledged to pursue every Nukhba operative who took part in the attack until each is brought to justice. He described the Gaza front as part of a multi-front effort.
