Sa'ar Seeks More Recognition of Israeli Sovereignty Over Golan Heights

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar met local council heads in Majdal Shams and said Israel would seek recognition from additional countries of its sovereignty over the Golan Heights. He described his meeting last Thursday with Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella, who then made Colombia the second country after the United States to recognize Israeli sovereignty there. Sa'ar said defensible borders are vital after the October 7 massacre and called the Golan critical to Israel's security. He added that Colombia had resisted diplomatic pressure and said Israel would continue the recognition campaign.
